Paintings, photographs and cards  from Comrie, Perthshire, Scotland by Roddy and Mari Donald. In January  2007 we ceased the knitwear side of our business and are now concentrating exclusively on our art work in which we have both worked for many years ( Roddy in photography  since the early 1960's and Mari in painting  since 1970)  although this has not been widely available until the last few years except at the gallery, small local exihibitions or by commission. From 2008 onwards we are reducing the number of events we  attend to concentrate on the gallery where you can see the complete scope of our work on display.

All payments should made by sterling cheque or International Money Order payable to MARI DONALD DESIGN please. We regret that due to the relatively small number of  purchases made by card together with the annual cost and conditions  for a service which we only use for a few months seasonally we have have reluctantly decided that payment by credit or debit card is not an option we can continue to offer without  increasing prices and have therefore ceased to accept  all cards.

In the event of goods being faulty or damaged then provided they are returned unused within a reasonable time  we shall replace or refund as you prefer (in the case of special or one off items etc we reserve the right to  charge for any additional work, time or materials involved).

PAINTINGS , PHOTOGRAPHS AND CARDS

We have both  been involved with art for nearly 40 years but up until now our work has only been available at the workshop, by commission or at small local exhibitions but we are now bringing it to a wider audience by exhibiting this work at most events we attend.
Mari is the painter working mainly in watercolour but also uses oils, gouache and charcoal and her subjects landscapes, flowers and buildings or architectural features. Roddy uses the camera (now digital) and his subjects are principally nature - landscape, insects, animals and anything else he comes across. Living  in Perthshire at the heart of Scotland much of our inspiration comes from the hills virtually on our doorstep and the views from our windows and this is reflected in the the number of  paintings of Perthshire although we are slowly expanding our horizons to cover other areas of Scotland especially  the west coast from  Ardnamuchan to Orkney and many of the islands between.  Over the years our work has found homes as far as Seattle, New York, Mexico, Peking and Auckland in addition to many in the U K and Europe and been exhibited or published in a number of places.
Original paintings start about £50.00  mounted ready for framing and photographs at around £23.00 ( all mounts, usually either 30 x 40 or 40 x 50 cm) will fit  standard frames available from Ikea, Habitat or any of the high street Art stores ) . Since we have found most people prefer a frame to fit in with those they already have we find it easier to sell paintings and photographs in mounts and leave  the purchase of frame to you although we do have a limited number of frames available should you prefer one. Many paintings  and a  number of photographs are available in blank greeting card form at £2.00 each or 3 for £5.00. Post and packing extra.
We are happy to consider commissions for either paintings or photographs, prices depend on the work involved but paintings normally start at around £80 unframed.
Painted fabric wall hangings can now be ordered - price varies according to size and subject but as a rough guide 2 meters by 1 meter flower hanging approximately £250 excluding fabric cost.

Some examples of our work follow  now and as it may take several minutes depending on  your system and connection to download  hopefully you will find the wait worthwhile. Due to variations in display settings the colours may vary slightly from the original work. Painting sizes shown exclude mounts or frames while photographs can be printed  in any size up to A4 (21 x 30 cm) or panoramic format up to 23 x 50 cm at the current time. Please note that the inclusion of a painting  does not necessarily mean that it is still available for purchase.
